Conservation Topics

Green Academy is interactive, virtual, and a project-based mentorship after-school and summer program for high school students that offers an exciting conservation leadership learning experience with highly qualified environmental educators throughout the United States.

Small group discussions, live coaching, and feedback during the cohort class schedule with mentor office hours dates and times to help facilitate student participant efforts.

Students who successfully complete the program receive a Green Academy Certificate and a letter of recommendation from their instructor of record for submission to schools, colleges, and/or business employers.

All students complete two one-hour sessions each week for six weeks of online environmental science course instruction, and a sustainability individual, or group, project in their community during the Spring, Summer, or Fall calendar term with recognition and awards from our sponsors. Students receive prize pack incentives including theme t-shirts, mugs, and more!

Over six weeks, students will explore how Synergy impacts the Environment. It is evident that this concept is critically important for sustainability efforts. Synergy is what happens when collaboration and teamwork produces an effect or result that is said to be “greater than the sum of its parts.”

How we conserve the beauty of natural Lands and provide sustainable Food and housing options and wildlife protection environments that encourage stewardship of ecosystems and resources is explored.

What can be done by individual Energy consumers, businesses, civic organizations, local, state, and national governments to conserve Energy and reduce the carbon footprint for Earth’s sustainable future?

The impact of greenhouse gas emissions on global warming with climate change is explored. How outdoor and indoor Air quality is improved by understanding Air pollution, its causes and solutions.

We as individuals, as groups and as a community can conserve Water usage and protect clean Water resources. The importance of watersheds and how they fit into our everyday infrastructure and lives with agriculture, industry, and recreation is considered.

Students bring new facts into their understanding of our environment and the People who lead and use that knowledge to be involved with conversations and green projects that build educational, career, and quality of life opportunities.

Students focus on completing and presenting individual and group community projects. By highlighting goals, challenges, and lessons learned each week, students develop into environmental change leaders with action plans for utilization personally, and in community group settings.
